E3SM-Unified conda environment

Summary:
A conda environment (a meta-package) that pulls together python and other E3SM analysis tools such as E3SM_diags, MPAS-Analysis, NCO, CDAT and processflow.
Note: E3SM-Unified supports only linux and HPC environments, not OSX or Windows.

You don't have permission to create your own conda environments on Edsion with the python environment you can access with module load python.
You can install Miniconda2 (https://repo.continuum.io/miniconda/Miniconda2-latest-Linux-x86_64.sh) in your home directory and then create an environment for e3sm-unified, e.g.:
conda create -n e3sm-unified -c conda-forge -c e3sm -c cdat e3sm-unified
However, I wouldn't suggest creating your own python environment for e3sm-unified unless you also need to install additional packages that aren't included. If you're just wanting to access e3sm-unified as it is, you should follow the instructions here:
Diagnostics and Analysis Quickstart under "Accessing metapackage software by activating a conda environment"

I am unable to install this on Edison, using the following steps:
module load python conda install -c conda-forge -c e3sm -c cdat e3sm-unifiedResults in:
ERROR conda.core.link:_execute(481): An error occurred while uninstalling package 'defaults::basemap-1.0.7-np113py27_0'. OSError(13, 'Permission denied') Attempting to roll back. Rolling back transaction: done OSError(13, 'Permission denied')Any ideas?
